Why San Jose Homeowners Choose Silestone Construction
We provide Silestone service in San Jose, including construction, repair, and installation throughout the area, from full slab countertop fabrication to seam repair, backsplash work, and kitchen island builds. We’re a general contractor, not a Silestone dealer or authorized service center, which means we answer to you, not to a manufacturer’s program. If a Silestone countertop in your San Jose kitchen has a separated seam, a chipped edge, or a crack running from the sink cutout, call (669) 274-2362 and we’ll give you a written price before any work starts.
Our crews know Silestone quartz the way a mechanic knows a specific engine. We’ve installed and repaired the Eternal Series, N-Boost, Loft, and Le Chic lines in homes from Willow Glen to Silestone in Santa Clara and the east side. We know where these tops fail, why they fail, and what actually fixes them. This page lays out what we’ve learned.
Why Trust Penhallow Remodeling San Jose for Your Silestone Construction?

Silestone is an engineered quartz surface made from roughly 90% crushed quartz bonded with resins and pigments. That composition is why it resists staining better than marble, but it’s also why certain repairs are trickier than they look on a natural stone. The resins behave differently than stone. They flex, they discolor with heat, and they don’t take kindly to the wrong adhesive.
Trevor Nash, the owner behind Penhallow Remodeling San Jose, spent the better part of two decades running kitchen and bath remodels across the South Bay, including a stretch of gut-jobs in Willow Glen where the finish work had to hold up to close inspection. He still considers those some of his cleanest installations. That’s the standard our Silestone work gets, too.
We’re independent. We are not authorized by Silestone and we don’t claim to be. What we claim is this: we’ve done the work, we understand the material, and we put the price and the guarantee in writing before we pick up a tool. Every Silestone job from us comes with the 365-Day Done Right Promise. If something fails inside that year, we come back and fix it at no charge.
You get a written price before we start. Not a range, not a ballpark. A number you can hold us to. And every Silestone repair or installation carries a written guarantee, with a free second visit if the repair doesn’t hold.

Common Silestone Construction Problems We Fix in San Jose
Here’s what we actually see on Silestone in Mountain View and San Jose homes. These aren’t theoretical. These are the calls that come in.
- Seam separation at undermount sink cutouts. This is the most common Silestone failure we walk into, and it almost always starts underneath, not on top. The sink support brackets were inadequate, or the base cabinet was never shimmed properly and flexes under load. The seam opens on one side of the sink, water gets in, and the adhesive starts to fail. On a Silestone Eternal Calacatta Gold island in a San Jose remodel, our techs found exactly this. We rebuilt the sink support with steel brackets, color-matched the seam with an epoxy-based adhesive, and re-profiled three chipped front edges to a bullnose. No full slab replacement needed. The island held through a full appliance installation without further cracking.
- Chipping along exposed edges and corners. Islands and breakfast bars take the abuse. A square or eased edge profile on Silestone chips more easily than a bullnose or waterfall edge. We see it most often on Loft Series slabs with lighter edge profiles. Small chips can be filled and polished. Repeated chips along the same edge usually mean it’s time to re-profile the entire run.
- Discoloration or etching from harsh cleaners. Silestone’s resin binder is not indestructible. Bleach, oven cleaner, or drain cleaner left on the surface will etch the finish, and the damage is more visible on matte and white finishes like N-Boost Miami White. We can often restore the surface with a professional polish and color-matched treatment, but the real fix is getting the right cleaner under your sink.
- Crack propagation from thermal shock. Engineered quartz doesn’t love sudden temperature swings. A hot pan set directly on the surface near a sink or cooktop cutout can start a hairline crack, and that crack will run. San Jose’s dry climate doesn’t help; the material is already stable, but the temperature differential between a 400-degree pan and a 70-degree countertop is the problem. Once a crack runs through the slab, resin injection rarely holds. Replacement is usually the honest answer.
- Discontinued color matching stress. Silestone retires colors. It happens. Homeowners with a Le Chic Bohemian or a discontinued Eternal Series color panic when they need a repair or an addition. Matching is harder, but it’s doable through regional distributors who hold remnant stock and can produce a close color-matched adhesive fill. We’ll tell you plainly if a match is close enough or if you’re better off replacing the full run.
Silestone Parts & Our Repair-vs-Replace Approach

We use genuine Silestone quartz and color-matched adhesives for repairs and additions, sourced from regional distributors so the pattern and finish match the original slab. For edge chips and seam separation, that approach works well. The repair is durable, and the color match holds.
For severely cracked or fractured slabs, we’re straightforward about the trade-off. Quartz’s resin-bonded composition means a crack through the full slab thickness rarely yields a durable, invisible repair once structural integrity is lost. Resin injection fills the line, but the slab is still weaker there. In those cases, we recommend replacement, and we’ll give you a written price for the new run including tear-out and disposal.
We don’t stock every Silestone color in the shop; nobody does. But we keep a working inventory of common adhesives, colorants, and edge profiles for quick turnaround on typical San Jose repair calls. If your repair needs a piece we have to order, we’ll tell you the lead time before we start.
Our Silestone Service Process – Step by Step
Our process stays the same whether we’re repairing a seam or installing a full kitchen island. Here’s what happens on a typical Silestone call in San Jose.
- 1
Diagnosis. We inspect the countertop, the cabinet base, the sink support, and the seams. We figure out whether the problem is the quartz or what’s under the quartz. On a seam separation, for example, the real problem is usually the cabinet, not the adhesive. Fixing only the seam guarantees a callback. We fix the cause.
- 2
Written price. Before any work starts, you get a written scope and a firm number. The price covers the repair or install, materials, and cleanup. It doesn’t change at the door.
- 3
Repair or installation. We use genuine Silestone material for repairs and additions. For full installs, we cut, fit, and set the slab with proper shimming, support brackets, and color-matched adhesive. Every edge profile and seam gets finished to the original spec.
- 4
Testing. We run the sink, fill it, drain it, and check the seams. We set weight on the counters. If an edge is re-profiled, we inspect it under raking light to catch any ripple or haze.
- 5
Warranty in writing. Every Silestone job leaves with a written guarantee. If the repair fails within 365 days, we return and make it right at no charge. No service call. No re-inspection fee.

AfterSilestone Products We Service & Install in San Jose

We install and service the full Silestone range you’re likely to find in San Jose homes. That includes the Eternal Series (Calacatta Gold, Statuario), the N-Boost Series (Miami White, Charcoal Soapstone), the Loft Series (Camden, Poblenou), and the Le Chic Series (Bohemian, Industrial).
Our crews handle full slab countertops, backsplashes, integrated sinks, and kitchen islands. We keep common color-matched adhesives and edge profiles in stock for fast local turnaround. If your color is out of production, we’ll source it through regional distributors and be honest about whether the match will satisfy you.
We Also Service These Brands
Silestone is one of several brands we install and service. We also work with KraftMaid and Wellborn cabinetry, Cambria and Caesarstone countertops, Kohler and Toto fixtures, and more. When a kitchen remodel touches cabinets, counters, plumbing, and tile, you don’t want three separate crews pointing fingers at each other. You want one company accountable for the whole job through our General Contractor services. That’s us.
FAQs – Silestone Construction Service in San Jose
Most edge chips on Silestone can be repaired without replacing the slab. We fill the chip with a color-matched epoxy and re-profile the edge to the surrounding finish. If the chip is deep, on a heavily used corner, or part of a larger crack, we’ll show you the repair and be honest about whether replacement is the smarter long-term call. Call (669) 274-2362 for a free estimate and we’ll inspect the damage.
Seam separation at an undermount sink almost always comes from inadequate sink support or a flexing base cabinet, not from the adhesive itself. The weight of the sink pulls on the seam every time you fill the basin. We fix it by rebuilding the steel support brackets, shimming the cabinet, and re-bonding the seam with color-matched adhesive. It’s a repair we’ve done across San Jose, and it holds.
No. Silestone is heat resistant to a point, but direct contact with a hot pan, especially near a sink or cooktop cutout, can cause thermal shock that leads to hairline cracks. Use a trivet or a folded towel. The repair for a thermal crack is rarely invisible. Prevention is cheaper.
We source through regional distributors who hold remnant stock of discontinued Silestone colors. The match won’t always be perfect, and we’ll tell you that before you pay. For a visible seam, we can often blend with color-matched adhesive so the difference disappears in the right light. For a large expanse, replacement of the full run may honestly look better than a close-but-not-exact patch. We’ll show you samples and let you decide.
Silestone resists staining far better than marble because it’s non-porous, but it is not stain-proof. Harsh cleaners, prolonged acidic spills, and dye-based liquids can discolor the surface, especially on matte and white finishes. Etching happens when harsh chemicals attack the resin binder. We can often restore light damage with professional polishing. For daily cleaning, use a pH-neutral stone cleaner, not bleach-based products.
Pricing depends on the scope, but here are the ranges we quote most often in San Jose.

| Backsplash installation | $945 – $2,950 |
