Caesarstone Kitchen Remodeling: The San Jose Owner’s Guide
Caesarstone kitchen remodeling in San Jose typically runs $16,520 to $53,100 depending on your layout, series, and how much of the existing install we’re replacing versus keeping. We stock Caesarstone-compatible edge profiles, seam kits, and sink cutout templates in our San Jose shop, so most repair-driven remodels start within days of your estimate, not weeks. The way owners usually find us: a seam has opened up near the sink, a corner chipped against a cabinet pull, or a previous contractor’s sink cutout left a hairline crack that’s been spreading every time someone leans on the counter.
Which Caesarstone Models This Applies To

We work across the Caesarstone catalog you’ll actually find in San Jose homes: the Classic, Supernatural, and Metropolitan series are the ones we see most in kitchens from Almaden Valley to Evergreen. Your slab’s series matters because Caesarstone changed thickness specs over the years. Older Classic-series slabs from the early 2010s were often fabricated at 20mm thickness, while current Supernatural and Metropolitan runs are predominantly 30mm. That 10mm difference changes which edge profiles we can cut, how we build the substrate (the support layer under your stone), and whether your existing cabinet boxes need reinforcement before new stone goes on.
To identify what you have: check the underside of the slab near the sink cutout, or look for the lot number sticker on any offcut the previous contractor left in the garage. If the sticker is long gone, measure the visible edge. If you see a laminated front edge rather than a single solid thickness, you have a 20mm slab with a built-up profile. That is the most common compatibility gotcha we run into in San Jose: a homeowner orders a replacement sink or faucet, and the new fixture doesn’t fit the old 20mm cutout tolerances. Penhallow Remodeling San Jose is an independent remodeler. We’re not affiliated with Caesarstone, but our fabricators cut to their current spec sheets, and we keep both OEM and quality aftermarket seam adhesives on hand so we match the original color blend, not just a generic off-white.

Signs Your Caesarstone Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing
- A visible seam gap near the sink or cooktop. Caesarstone seams are filled with a color-matched adhesive. In San Jose’s dry summers and damp winters, the slab expands and contracts enough that a poorly cut seam opens up. You’ll see a dark line widening, and water gets in.
- Chipping along the front edge. This happens when a 20mm slab was installed with an unsupported overhang beyond 8 inches. Every time someone leans on that edge, the stone flexes microscopically until it starts to spall. The same applies to corners near dishwasher openings.
- A hairline crack radiating from a sink corner. The sink cutout is the weakest point on any Caesarstone top. If the installer did not radius the inside corners properly, or if the cabinet below settled, stress concentrates at that 90-degree turn and cracks start running outward.
- Discoloration or dullness that won’t polish out. Caesarstone is non-porous, but abrasives, oven cleaner overspray, or years of hard-water scaling in San Jose can etch the surface sheen. If the finish looks foggy only in one area, it’s usually chemical damage, not wear.
- A counter that’s no longer level, or a visible gap between stone and cabinet. San Jose has expansive clay soil in many neighborhoods, and slab-on-grade homes in areas like Blossom Valley shift seasonally. If the cabinet run settles, the stone tells you first. A gap at the back or a wobbling island top means the substrate has moved.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

A full Caesarstone kitchen remodel in San Jose runs $16,520 to $53,100. That covers demolition of the old counters, substrate replacement where needed, new slab fabrication and install, sink and faucet purchase or reinstall, and backsplash work if you’re doing it in the same pass. The biggest driver is square footage. A compact galley kitchen in a Willow Glen bungalow might only need 45 square feet of slab, while a Cambrian open-plan kitchen with a 9-foot island can push 90 square feet or more.
Countertop installation alone runs $2,360 to $7,670. If you’re keeping your cabinets and only swapping the stone and sink, that’s your realistic band. What’s included in our number: the written itemized quote before work starts, material, fabrication, delivery, the install crew, color-matched seams, sink cutout, faucet holes, disposal of the old slab, and our 365-Day Done Right Promise. If a seam opens or a crack shows up within a year of install, we come back and make it right at no charge. No re-inspection fee, no arguing about whose fault it was. It’s written into every contract we sign in San Jose.
DIY or Call Us?
There are a few things you can safely check before picking up the phone. Look under the sink and see if the slab is supported across the full cabinet width, or if there are gaps where shims have worked loose. Look at the seam: if you can feel a ridge with your fingernail, the joint has failed and water is getting underneath. You can also set a level on the counter at three different spots and see how far off it is.
What you should not do is attempt to lift, re-seam, or chip-repair Caesarstone yourself. A full slab weighs somewhere around 14 to 18 pounds per square foot. A 60-square-foot counter section is over 800 pounds. If it shifts while you’re underneath it, it’s not a bruised finger, it’s a trip to the hospital. And the color-matched adhesives we use are not the epoxy tubes at the hardware store. Trevor Nash has walked into enough San Jose kitchens where a homeowner’s hardware-store repair made the seam worse than before they touched it, to know that’s not the path. FAQs

Caesarstone slabs have a lifetime warranty from the manufacturer for residential use, but the installed lifespan in a working San Jose kitchen is realistically 20 to 30 years before you’re looking at a replacement due to aesthetic wear or structural movement rather than slab failure itself. The weak point is almost never the stone. It’s the install underneath. Call (669) 274-2362 if you’re seeing early cracks, and we’ll tell you honestly whether it’s a repair or a replace.
A hairline crack can be color-filled and stabilized if it hasn’t spread more than a few inches and the substrate underneath is still solid. A crack running from a sink corner across more than half the slab is a replacement situation, because the stress that caused it is still there. We’ll assess it during a free estimate and tell you which one you have.
Most Caesarstone kitchen remodels in San Jose take 2 to 4 weeks from template to final install, depending on slab availability and whether custom edge profiles are being cut. We write the timeline into your quote. When we say we’ll be there, we mean a real arrival window, not a four-hour void.
We don’t warehouse full Caesarstone slabs, but we maintain a working inventory of color-matched seam adhesives, edge profile templates, and sink cutout jigs in San Jose. The slab itself is ordered to your exact measurements after we template, which is how a good fabricator avoids waste and keeps your price honest. We also work with KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone products when the job calls for them.
