Blanco Bathroom Remodeling: The San Jose Owner’s Guide
Blanco bathroom remodeling in San Jose typically runs $10,620 – $33,040 for a full renovation, and when a Blanco fixture fails mid-project or years into daily use, we can usually get the replacement part sourced and installed within the same week. Most San Jose homeowners discover a problem the way you did: a slow drip that won’t stop, mineral buildup that’s etched into the finish, or a sink that no longer drains the way it did when the house was new. The good news is Blanco builds their fixtures with serviceability in mind. The better news is you don’t have to chase down the part yourself.
Penhallow Remodeling San Jose is an independent remodeling contractor and not affiliated with Blanco. We install Blanco fixtures in our bathroom remodels, we know their parts catalog, and we keep the most common replacement components in our San Jose van stock. That means when you call about a failed Blanco part, we can usually tell you what you need and what it costs on that first phone call.
Which Blanco Models This Applies To

Blanco’s bathroom line is smaller than their kitchen sink catalog, but it’s not simple. The parts are not all interchangeable, and that’s where most San Jose homeowners get frustrated. The Blanco Liven, Formera, and Daras series each use different drain assemblies and mounting hardware. A Blanco sink that was installed in a Willow Glen remodel in 2015 may take a completely different basket strainer than one installed in an Almaden Valley home in 2021, even if the bowls look identical.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha we see most often in San Jose homes: Blanco bathroom sinks are graded by bowl depth and drain opening size, and both are stamped on a label under the bowl. If that label is gone (common after a decade of under-cabinet humidity), we measure the drain opening in millimeters before ordering anything. A 3 ½-inch drain opening is the Blanco standard for most bathroom models, but the Formera series runs a wider 4-inch opening on some SKUs. Order the wrong one and you’re stuck with a part that won’t seat. We check the measurements ourselves so that doesn’t happen.
For the OEM versus aftermarket question: Blanco OEM parts are worth the extra cost on anything that touches water seals or the finished surface. Aftermarket baskets and pop-ups can work, but we’ve pulled cheap aftermarket drain assemblies out of San Jose bathrooms where the thread pitch was just slightly off, and that’s the kind of thing that seeps for months before you notice the cabinet floor is swelled. For visible components like the drain cover and overflow plate, we’ll show you both options and let you decide if the savings are worth it. Usually for a $40 – $80 difference on a part that should last another decade, our recommendation is OEM.

Signs Your Blanco Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing
- Water pooling around the sink base or cabinet floor. The most common cause is a dried-out gasket under the drain flange. Blanco uses a rubber compression gasket that hardens after 8 – 12 years, especially in San Jose’s dry heat. Once it stiffens, the seal fails and water tracks underneath.
- A pop-up drain that won’t hold water or won’t lift. Mineral deposits from San Jose’s hard water build up on the lift rod pivot and the pop-up stopper’s sealing ring. You’ll feel it first as resistance when you pull the lift rod behind the faucet. Wait too long and the plastic pivot snaps inside the drain body.
- Discoloration or pitting on the sink surface you can’t scrub off. Blanco’s ceramic and Silgranit finishes are durable, but years of hard water and acidic cleaners etch the surface. Once the factory glaze is compromised, the sink stains faster and looks dirty a week after cleaning.
- The faucet drips at the base or from the spout after the handles are off. Most Blanco bathroom faucets in San Jose homes are cartridge-based. The cartridge itself usually lasts 8 – 10 years, but the O-rings around it fail sooner. A drip from the spout with the handles closed is almost always the cartridge. A leak at the base is usually the O-rings under the escutcheon.
- Slow drainage that a plunger doesn’t fix. Blanco’s bathroom sink drains are designed with a narrow throat to prevent jewelry from dropping through. Hair and soap combine in that narrowing and create a restriction. If a zip strip pulls out more than you expected and the sink is still slow, the restriction is in the trap or the branch line, not the fixture.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

A Blanco bathroom remodeling project in San Jose runs $10,620 – $33,040 for a complete remodel, but if you’re on this page for a failed part, the number is much smaller. A Blanco drain assembly replacement, installed, typically runs $180 – $420 depending on whether we’re doing the basket, the pop-up, or the full drain body. A cartridge replacement for a Blanco faucet runs $160 – $320 installed. If the sink itself is past saving and we’re swapping in a new Blanco model during a bathroom refresh, that’s where the full remodel price range starts to apply.
The range comes down to three things: which Blanco series you have, whether we’re working inside an existing vanity or replacing it (cabinet work moves the number up fast), and what we find once the fixture is off. We write the price before we start, not after. If we open up the drain and find the cabinet floor is water-damaged, that’s a separate line item you approve before we touch it. No surprises at the end.
Every Blanco part installation carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing. If the part fails or the install leaks inside that year, we come back and fix it at no charge. That’s the Kingswell standard: written price before work starts, clean job site when we leave, and a guarantee you can hold us to.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely do two things before calling us. First, check under the sink for a label or stamping on the Blanco bowl so we know your model. Second, wipe down the drain area and watch exactly where water appears when you run the faucet. That tells us more than a photo can. What you should not do is attempt a drain assembly replacement without a pipe wrench and a basin buddy. Blanco’s compression gaskets need even torque to seat properly, and an over-tightened plastic nut is a cracked drain body. We’ve fixed more DIY drain replacements in San Jose than we can count, and they’re never cheaper than calling us first.
If you’re comfortable replacing a cartridge with the water shut off at the angle stops, that’s a fair weekend job. If the cartridge is stuck (and in hard water, they stick), stop and call (669) 274-2362 before the brass retaining nut rounds off. Trevor Nash puts it this way: give me the real problem and I’ll give you the real number.
FAQs

A Blanco bathroom sink typically lasts 15 – 25 years, and the faucet cartridge lasts 8 – 10 years under normal San Jose water conditions. Hard water shortens that if you skip descaling, and acidic cleaners on the finish age the surface faster than the water does. If you’re on a well with high mineral content, expect the shorter end of those ranges. Call (669) 274-2362 and we’ll tell you honestly whether repair or replacement makes more sense for your specific model.
Cartridges and gaskets can usually be repaired or replaced as individual components without touching the rest of the fixture. A cracked drain body or a pitted sink surface cannot be repaired in a way that lasts, and we’ll tell you that up front rather than selling you a patch that fails in a year. The repair-versus-replace call is one we make together after we see the part.
Most Blanco drain assemblies and faucet cartridges take 1 – 2 hours to replace once parts are in hand, assuming the angle stops under the sink still operate. If we’re replacing the sink itself inside an existing vanity, plan for a half day. We give you a written arrival window before the appointment and a live person answers the phone 24/7 if you need to adjust it.
We keep the most common Blanco bathroom drain assemblies, pop-up stoppers, gaskets, and faucet cartridges in our San Jose van stock. Less common series-specific parts are ordered from our supplier network and usually arrive within 2 – 3 business days. We also work with KraftMaid cabinetry, Cambria surfaces, and Silestone tops when a failed part is part of a larger bathroom remodel. Call (669) 274-2362 for a free estimate and we’ll quote your exact part by model.
