ECO Window Systems Kitchen Remodeling: The San Jose Owner’s Guide

If you have ECO Window Systems windows or doors in your San Jose kitchen and you’re planning a remodel, the short answer is this: we install, replace, and work around ECO Window Systems products during kitchen remodels, and a full kitchen remodel in San Jose typically runs $16,520 – $53,100 depending on layout, cabinet line, and countertop material. Most homeowners call us because their ECO Window Systems garden window over the sink has a failed seal, the crank mechanism on an awning window has stripped out, or the frame has shifted enough that the window won’t close flush anymore. We handle all of it as part of the remodel, not as a separate headache.

Call (669) 274-2362

You’re not the first San Jose homeowner to discover that a window issue becomes a kitchen problem the moment you start pulling cabinets. The window over the sink is the one you look through every single day, and if the glass is fogged or the frame is sticking, it will drive you crazy long after the new quartz goes in. We’ll match your existing ECO Window Systems products or replace them with something that fits the new layout, and the price is written down before we touch anything.

Here’s what matters most: we’re an independent San Jose general contractor, not affiliated with ECO Window Systems, and our written price covers the window work alongside the cabinets, counters, and backsplash so you’re not juggling two crews and two invoices. Call (669) 274-2362 for a free estimate, and you’ll get a real number in writing before any demo starts.

Which ECO Window Systems Models This Applies To

New painted shaker cabinets with an organized deep drawer

ECO Window Systems manufactures vinyl and aluminum windows and sliding doors, and in San Jose kitchens we most often see three product types: garden windows over the sink, horizontal sliders above a counter run, and casement or awning windows on exterior walls. The compatibility gotcha with ECO Window Systems is that their garden window frames are often sized in 3-inch increments (36″, 39″, 42″, 48″) with a 3-1/4″ frame depth that doesn’t always match the rough opening left by older wood windows from the 1980s and 1990s. If you’re replacing a failed ECO unit with a different brand, that depth difference matters, and your installer needs to account for it before ordering.

To identify what you have, look for the manufacturer label on the inside of the window frame, usually stamped on the sash or along the top track. The label will show the model series, the manufacture date, and a size code like “GW-36-42″ (garden window, 36″ wide by 42” tall). If the label is gone or painted over, measure the visible glass area and the full frame width, then give us those numbers when you call. We’ll cross-reference them against the ECO Window Systems size chart and tell you what your options are the same day.

OEM versus aftermarket is the next question. For a garden window replacement, an ECO OEM unit is the cleanest match because the frame depth and mounting flange are already designed for that opening. But we’ll be honest: if the window is 20 years old, most San Jose homeowners are better served by replacing the whole unit with a new construction-grade window than by hunting down a discontinued part. We’ll price both paths so you can see the difference in writing.

We also stock and install parts for KraftMaid and Wellborn cabinetry, plus Cambria and Silestone countertops, so if your window work ties into new cabinet runs or a countertop replacement, it’s all under one scope and one written number.

Signs Your ECO Window Systems Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing

  • Fogged glass or moisture between the panes. The insulated glass unit (IGU) seal has failed, which lets humid air between the two panes. You can replace just the IGU on some ECO models without pulling the whole frame, but if the frame is also warping, it’s a full-unit job.
  • The window won’t crank open or the crank spins without moving the sash. ECO casement and awning windows use a worm-gear crank mechanism, and the gear teeth strip over time. When the gear strips, the window is stuck either fully closed or partially open, and the fix is a new operator assembly.
  • The slider binds or jumps the track when you open it. ECO horizontal sliders ride on nylon rollers, and San Jose’s hard water and dust mix into a grit that chews up those rollers within 8 to 12 years. When the roller wheels seize, the sash grinds metal-on-metal against the track.
  • Draft along the frame, even when the window is latched shut. The weatherstripping has compressed or the vinyl frame has warped from years of direct San Jose sun exposure. You’ll feel it most mornings when the fog hasn’t burned off yet and the air coming through is cold.
  • Visible frame cracking or a sag in the corner of a garden window. Garden windows sit out from the wall and carry the entire weight of the glass box on the frame’s bottom rail. If the installer didn’t add a support bracket underneath, that rail eventually sags and the glass starts pulling from the seat.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A small remodeled galley kitchen with cabinets to the ceiling

A full kitchen remodel in San Jose runs $16,520 – $53,100, and the window work inside that scope is usually a smaller line item rather than a separate bill. If you’re doing a targeted ECO Window Systems repair or replacement without touching the cabinets, here’s what affects the price:

  • Garden window replacement: $2,360 – $7,670 installed, depending on size and whether we’re matching an existing opening or reframing a bigger one.
  • Window casing, trim, and interior sealing around existing windows: included in the remodel price, not billed separately.
  • Full window replacement in the kitchen (2 – 3 windows): $5,310 – $17,700 installed for the window package, with the exact number driven by size, frame material, and glass package.

Every price we give you in San Jose is written, not verbal. The number on day one is the number on the invoice, unless you change the scope and we reprice it in writing before we proceed. The workmanship is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if something fails within a year of installation, we come back and fix it at no charge. That’s in writing on every project.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely check a few things yourself: look for the manufacturer label, take photos of the window from inside and outside, and measure the frame width and height. That information helps us quote the job without a second trip. What you should not do is try to remove an ECO garden window or pull the sash out of a slider to replace the rollers. The glass unit in a garden window can weigh 50 to 80 pounds, and the tension clips that hold the sash in a slider will bite your fingers if they snap. The cost of a trip to the ER is a lot more than what we’d charge to do it right.

We’re happy to walk you through what you’re seeing over the phone. Call (669) 274-2362 and Trevor or one of our San Jose project leads will ask you to read the label, describe what’s happening, and snap a photo. We’ll give you a real number before we ever drive out.
