Caesarstone Home Additions & ADU: The San Jose Owner’s Guide
We install Caesarstone countertops, vanities, and slab surfaces in home additions and ADUs across San Jose, with most projects landing between $53,100 and $153,400 depending on square footage, layout, and Caesarstone series you pick. If you’re reading this because you already have a Caesarstone surface in an addition or detached ADU and something has cracked, chipped, or started separating at the seam, we can inspect it and give you a written number before any work starts. Most homeowners discover the problem during a routine clean: a hairline crack near the sink cutout, a dull spot that won’t polish out, or a peninsula overhang that suddenly moves when you lean on it.
Which Caesarstone Models This Applies To

Caesarstone runs several series that show up constantly in San Jose additions and ADU projects: the Classico line (older, still in place in many Willow Glen and Almaden kitchens), the Supernatural line (popular in newer ADU builds for its deeper veining), and the Outdoor line for covered outdoor kitchens. Each series uses a different quartz blend ratio, so matching a replacement slab by name alone doesn’t work. You’ll find the exact color code and lot number on the underside of the slab, usually stamped near a corner or written with a silver marker. If that marking is gone, a sharp photo of the edge profile and the surface pattern under daylight is usually enough for us to identify the series and pull the right match from our supplier network.
One compatibility gotcha we hit regularly in San Jose: Caesarstone changes batch color subtly every few years, even on the same named color. A 2018 Frosty Carrina and a 2024 Frosty Carrina will not match perfectly side by side. If you’re adding onto an existing Caesarstone run, we order a sample chip from the current lot and hold it against your installed surface before we cut anything. On the OEM versus aftermarket question for Caesarstone specifically: there is no aftermarket replacement for a Caesarstone slab. You’re buying Caesarstone or you’re switching brands. Cambria and Silestone make comparable quartz lines and we install all three, but a true match to an existing Caesarstone surface means staying with Caesarstone.

Signs Your Caesarstone Home Additions & ADU Is Failing
- Hairline cracks around the sink or cooktop cutout. Quartz expands and contracts with temperature swings, and San Jose’s dry summer heat followed by cooler damp winters stresses the weakest point: the narrow strip of material between the cutout corner and the slab edge. If the crack is traveling, the slab needs reinforcing or replacement before it snaps through.
- Seam separation at the joint between two slabs. This almost always points to a shifting cabinet base or an undermount sink that was never properly supported when the original contractor installed it. The Caesarstone isn’t warping; the framing under it is moving.
- Chipped edge on an overhang or breakfast bar. Caesarstone is hard but brittle at thin edges. A pan strike or a chair seat catching the underside edge is all it takes. Small chips can be filled and polished; a chip that exposes the substrate (the backing material under the quartz) needs a slab section replaced.
- Dull or cloudy spots that won’t restore with cleaner. Quartz doesn’t need sealing, so dulling means the factory polish has been worn or chemically etched by something acidic left sitting. In ADU kitchens with limited ventilation, oven cleaner overspray is the usual culprit we find.
- Slab movement when you press down on an overhang or peninsula edge. If the Caesarstone flexes or pops when you lean on it, the substrate underneath is failing or the overhang was never properly braced. This is a structural problem, not a cosmetic one, and it will get worse.
We service San Jose neighborhoods including Cambrian, Rose Garden, Japantown, Willow Glen, and Evergreen, and we’ve seen every one of these failure patterns in ADUs built during the post-2020 construction surge when some contractors cut corners on substructure to save time.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

A full home addition with Caesarstone surfaces in San Jose typically runs $53,100 to $153,400. Within that range, the Caesarstone portion of the job (countertops, island, vanity tops, windowsills, wet bar) usually accounts for $7,000 to $25,000 depending on the series you select, the lineal footage, and whether you’re doing a simple single-slab feed or a mitred-edge waterfall island. A detached ADU with a Caesarstone kitchen and bath runs $106,200 to $259,600 all-in with framing, electrical, plumbing, drywall, flooring, and finishes.
Every quote we hand you is a written number before any work starts. It includes the slab material, template and fabrication, delivery, installation, seams, undermount sink cutout, and the 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing. If the surface cracks, separates, or fails inside that year, we come back and fix it at no charge. That’s the whole point of the Kingswell standard: say the price before the work, show up in the window we gave, leave the place cleaner than we found it.

What you can safely check yourself: whether the seam gap widens when you set a level across both slabs, whether the cabinet doors below still close square, and whether water has been sitting under the sink from a slow drain leak. Those are diagnostic and safe. What you should not attempt: grinding, re-polishing, or filling cracks with epoxy kits sold online. Quartz repair requires diamond tooling, color-matched resin, and a steady hand that knows feathering. A bad repair looks worse than the original chip and often voids the Caesarstone warranty. If the slab is cracked through, it’s a removal and replacement job, full stop.
Call (669) 274-2362 and describe what you’re seeing. Give me the real problem and I’ll give you the real number. Trevor Nash, who runs Penhallow Remodeling San Jose, has spent nearly two decades on job sites like these, including a run of kitchen and bath gut jobs in Willow Glen he still considers some of his cleanest finish work. He’ll tell you plainly whether the slab can be saved or whether it’s time to refeed the run.
FAQs

Caesarstone quartz should last 25 to 35 years or more with normal use. In San Jose’s dry heat and seasonal temperature swings, the substrate and cabinet framing underneath usually fail before the quartz itself does. If your slab is cracking inside 10 years, the problem is almost always structural support underneath it, not the Caesarstone.
A hairline surface crack can sometimes be filled and polished by a fabricator with the right color-matched resin and diamond tooling, but a crack that runs through the slab thickness or has started separating at the seam usually requires a section replacement or a full refeed. We’ll tell you which path makes sense after looking at it. Call (669) 274-2362 to schedule an inspection.
A countertop replacement in an existing San Jose addition takes 7 to 10 days from template to install. A new ADU or addition with Caesarstone surfaces is a 3 to 6 month project depending on permitting and scope. We template first, cut and fabricate off-site, and install once the slab is ready. The number of cabinets and the mitre work drive the schedule, not the slab itself.
We don’t warehouse slabs, but we pull from local San Jose and South Bay Caesarstone suppliers who stock the current Supernatural and Outdoor lines, and we can usually have a specific Classico color sourced within 3 to 5 business days. We also handle KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone if you want to compare a different brand while we’re at it.
If you’re planning a home addition or ADU in San Jose and want Caesarstone surfaces done right the first time, call (669) 274-2362 for a free estimate. We’ll put a written number in your hand before any work starts, and a written guarantee behind it.
